2 Dec 2012 - State Harbour Crossing

Sunday 2 December, 2012 - Auckland Harbour Crossing
To help raise funds and awareness for mental health, Moss took on the the Auckland Harbour Crossing from a new perspective. Without the use of his arms, Moss swam the 2.9km distance from Quinton Park to Auckland's Viaduct Harbour. With the help of a snorkel and two kickboard's taped together, Moss successfully kicked the entire distance becoming a new benchmark for people to beat now that Rosie the dog can no longer partake.
"Depression has come close to home and apparently affects 1 in 5 kiwis and I want to raise awareness and funds for it", says Moss. "I would not wish depression on anyone and I am now able to admit to people that I suffered depression and am still fighting it but without the fear of it", says Moss's mother Bronwen. The swim was another goal within Bronwen's fitness regime to overcome her depression of 3+ years.
Bronwen and Moss's two brothers Cole and Dane, also swam the Auckland Harbour Crossing. The swim went very well for such rough conditions and unfortunately Moss lost sight of his family during the race, and had to carry on alone.
- Moss managed to kick 1.09.24
- Bronwen with the support of Cole and Dane along side went 1.12.10
A video and article has been made by The Waikato Times about Bronwen and the struggles she has been through - View the article and video
